FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Diego, CA, June 1, 2022 — The San Diego Women’s Chorus (SDWC), San Diego’s foremost women’s chorus, is thrilled to announce their summer Pride concert: “Louder Than Words,” a joyous, inspiring evening of music celebrating justice, progress, and LGBTQ+ pride. SDWC will celebrate with a compelling and entertaining night of music, setting the stage for the in-person return of San Diego‘s Pride weekend.

“Louder Than Words” will take place on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 7:00 PM at Metropolitan Community Church of San Diego (2633 Denver Street, San Diego CA 92110). Led by Artistic Director Kathleen Hansen, the chorus will perform an eclectic slate of songs ranging from instantly recognizable pop classics to moving protest anthems. With a blend of musical joy and inspiration, “Louder Than Words” celebrates the determination, strength, and hope of San Diego’s LGBTQ+ community and its allies.

“Our concert celebrates the spirit of Pride,” Hansen explained. “It is a celebration of community and authenticity as well as a reminder to use our voices and our actions to speak up against injustice.”

Tickets for “Louder Than Words” are available online through TicketLeap. For more information, visit www.SDWC.org. This concert will be ASL interpreted for the deaf and hard of hearing communities.

About the San Diego Women’s Chorus

Founded in 1987 by community activist Dr. Cynthia Lawrence, SDWC has grown from a group of 14 lesbians gathered around a piano in a private home to a thriving community with over 125 singers who believe in the power of music and the power of women. For 35 years, SDWC has provided a safe space that encourages women’s creativity, celebrates diversity, and inspires social action. San Diego Women’s Chorus is a non-profit community chorus that strives to entertain and inspire audiences with music that speaks to issues as diverse as human rights, love, world peace, religious freedom, environmental harmony, inclusion, and cultural diversity. SDWC welcomes all women and gender non-conforming individuals as singers. SDWC supports and affirms the music of women and LGBTQ+ composers and arrangers.
